 Chairman's UK visit Chairman KEF paid a visit to UK for fund raising and publicizing KEF. Dedicated efforts by the host and ethnic communities from UK have continued to generate funds for Phakowal project.

  Specialist engaged for KEF Mrs. Rashid Anwar Khan, a specialist in English language is now a part-time consultant for KEF. Her instructions take the form of workshops and classes which are improving communication and English language skills of the ITE trainees & PVPS teachers.

  KEF Board of Trustees Meeting Eleventh half yearly meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on December 13, 2003 in Rawalpindi. Trustees along with the architect and design engineers visited the project site at Phakowal and were satisfied with the construction work. The Annual Audit Report of the Foundation and PVPS (2002-2003) was also approved by the trustees.

  Quest for support Chairman Kashmir Education Foundation had fruitful meetings with many organizations, individuals and people. These included Mrs. Zubaida Jalal, Federal Minister for Education, Mr. Nasim Ashraf, Chairman Commission for Human Resource Development and Dr. Haroona Jatoi, Joint Education Adviser (Planning Wing), Ministry of Education. Many included those listed above have promised to extend their support to KEF.

  KEF Board of Trustees Meeting Tenth half yearly meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on June 21, 2003 in Rawalpindi.

  Registration of KEF as a charity in United States After being registered as a charity in Pakistan, Azad Kashmir and United Kingdom, KEF was registered as a charity in United States. As a result of this major success, all donations from United States will be exempted from Tax. The details of the registration are:

  KEF Board of Trustees Meeting Ninth half yearly meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on December 14, 2002. Important policy matters were discussed. Representative of Auditors was invited to brief the board on new methods of keeping accounts. Chairman KEF briefed the participants of developments in KEF during the last five month.

  Approval of New ITE/Hostel Project Ministry of Women Development, Social Welfare and Special Education has approved Government grant of Rs. 10.376 million the construction of new Institute of Teachers Education (ITE) with a hostel of 50 students at Phakowal (Rawalpindi).

Latest Progress Report

  Audit of KEF/PVPS/PVITE Audit teams from Massers Ford, Rhodes, Robson, Morrow, Chartered Accountants completed audit of KEF Head Office, PVPS and PVITE accounts for the year 2001-02. 

  Meeting with Federal Minister of Science and Technology Chairman KEF held meeting with Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman, Federal Minister of Science and Technology, to expedite the process of setting up GCSE/A Level Examination Board at the Agha Khan University.
 

  Meeting with President Khushali Bank Chairman KEF held meeting with Mr. Ghalib Nishtar, President Khushali Bank to discuss financial support by the Bank for the ITE trainees' expenses on easy terms.

  Chairman's visit to UK Chairman KEF proceeded to UK on 23 June 2002 to participate in fund raising campaign being organized by KEF(UK).

  KEF Board of Trustees Meeting 8th Annual Board of Trustees Meeting was held on May 27, 2002 in Rawalpindi. The Board approved the annual audited accounts for 2000/2001 and budget for next financial year (2001/2002) and appreciated the progress made so far by the Foundation. The Trustees also paid visit to the site of the new project in village Pakhowal, located 30 kilometers from Rawalpindi. Nearly 6 Acres of land has been bought by the Foundation. More Information

 Adoption of AJ&K Government Schools To use PVPS and PVITE as a resource center to raise the standard of other school in AJ&K, an offer was made to AJ&K Government adopt four school within close proximity of Rawalakot to help them improve their quality of education. The Government has agreed to this offer in principle. Modalities and financial implications are being worked out.

  Appointment of Research Associate With the good offices of National Institute of Psychology (NIP), Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, Ms Shaista Waqar, a psychologist, has been appointed as Research Associate for KEF. She will work under the supervision of NIP. Important projects to be undertaken are:

a) Revision\Modification of APID tests.
b) Validation test for students of PVPS
c) Student counseling
d) Conduction of seminars for teachers on the psychological aspects of child's education

  Income Tax Exemption The Foundation has been granted Income Tax Exemption for three years (January 2002 - December 2004) by the Regional Commissioner of Income Tax and Wealth Tax, Islamabad under Section 47 (1)(d) of Income Ordinance.

  Newsletter First issue of the Newsletter containing important events of KEF (Pakistan), KEF (UK), PVPS and PVITE was published in January 2002. It is planned to issue the newsletter regularly on half yearly basis from the year onward.

New Project


  Formation of Alliance of Quality Education KEF and three other charitable educational NGOs have formed an umbrella organization namely Alliance of Quality Education (AQE) to provide a platform for coordination of their efforts for quality education schools in backward areas. AQE, whose membership is open to other educational NGOs having similar objectives, presently comprises KEF (Pakistan), Mianwali Education Trust (Islamabad), M.H. Sufi Foundation (Lahore) and Agahi Trust (Mansehra). AQE has its head office in Islamabad and is working in collaboration with Asia Foundation and Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) of UK.

  KEF Board of Trustees Meeting Annual Board of Trustees Meeting was held on June 23, 2001 at Rawalpindi. The Board approved the annual audited accounts for 2000/2001 and budget for next financial year (2001/2002).

  Chairman's visit to UK Chairman KEF, Major General (Retired) M. Rahim Khan, paid a visit to United Kingdom from 17 May to 11 June. He inaugurated the designated office of KEF (UK) in Bradford, generously donated and equipped by Haji Mussadhik Hussain. He also visited London, Luton, Bradford, Leeds, Manchester, Bxirmingham and Glasgow to attend various functions organized by KEF (UK) and appeared on radio, TV and press interviews to create awareness and support for KEF. The visit was a success. Ten core groups of volunteers were organized in various cities for the support of KEF objectives and activities. UK Trustees are confident of raising enough funds to set up a second KEF school in a rural area near Rawalpindi.

Registration of KEF as a charity in UK

 Registration of KEF as a charity in UK Kashmir Education Foundation has been registered as a charity in United Kingdom ( Registration Company No: 3754243 &  Charity No. 1082299) on 5th September, 2000 with a separate Board of Trustee and Haji Mussadhik Hussain of Bradford as its Chairman.
