Participation in the Trustees Meeting in Pakistan
Board
of Trustees Meeting
Board of trustees meeting was held at
Bradford in the KEF UK Head Office in May. The meeting carried out
review of the progress on various issues and discussed future plans of
supporting the Foundation.

in the Trustees Meeting in Pakistan
Haji Mussadhik Hussain and Mr M. Akram
Khan Cheema, Chairman and Secretary KEF UK respectively attended the
Board of Trustees meeting at Rawalpindi in June. They updated the
trustees with the activities of KEF UK. Mr M. Akram Khan Cheema donated
£2000 to KEF on behalf of KEF UK.

Fund
Raising Dinners During June and July KEF(UK) organized
dinner in various cities to raise funds for KEF projects. The main
objective was to raise funds for the new project near
Rawalpindi (Soan Valley Public School). High Commissioner of Pakistan
to UK, H.E. Abdul Kader Jaffer was the chief guest at the Twickenham
dinner in London. He praised the work of KEF and urged the Pakistani
community to support its plans. Chairman KEF, Maj Gen (Retired) M. Rahim
Khan presented the High Commissioner with a KEF shield and thanked him
warmly for his support.

Report of the project
Nomination
of new Trustee Dr. Alison Scott-Baumann has accepted an
invitation from Chairman KEF and Board of Trustees to join the UK Board.
Dr. Scott Baumann works for the School of Education at the University of
Gloucester. She has vast experience in academia and has for a number of
years working for KEF behind the scenes. Currently, she is devising a
computer based postgraduate teacher-training programme for KEF, in
association with Mr. M Akram Khan Cheema, Secretary KEF(UK) and the
University of Gloucester. Dr. Scott-Baumann has visited PVPS.
Visit
of Vice President of UNESCO Mr. Shahid Malik, Vice
President of UNESCO UK visited KEF Office in Bradford and promised to
arrange a meeting with the UNESCO President.
"Friends
of KEF" Group set up in Parliament
On February 27, 2002, Tony Coleman, MP and Lord Avebury hosted a meeting
in which "Friends of KEF" group was set up. It will be led by both Tony
Coleman and Lord Avebury. Another meeting with Timothy Kirhope, Robert
Goodwill Euro, MP and McMillan Scott is due shortly to raise awareness in
the European Union regarding the work of KEF. Lord Avebury and Mr. Coleman
had visited Pearl Valley Public School in 2001.

Trustees'
and Directors' Annual Meeting The joint Annual Meeting of
the UK Trustees and Directors was held on January 23, 2002 in Bradford.
KEF supporters from various partnership groups around the country also
took part.

with Barry Sheerman, MP
Lynva Russel arranged a meeting with
Barry Sheerman, MP on January 11, 2002 which was attended by Haji Mussadik
Hussain, Chairman KEF(UK), Mr. Mohammad Akram Khan Cheema, Secretary,
Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan, Coordinator and Mr. Mumtaz from Huddersfield.
Mr. Sheerman is the Chairman of the Education Select Committee.

Haji Munshi Khan Raja raised £ 1,600 for KEF during Ramadan.

Leeds Ladies Team raises £ 3,000
Mrs. Rukhsana Khawaja and Ms. Firdaus Khan of KEF Leeds
Ladies Team raised £ 3,000 in an iftar party during Ramadan.
KEF
Media-Man delivers Mr. Ishtiaq Mir raised £
20,000 for KEF during Holy month of Ramadan. This was made possible with
the assistance of Mr. Nasir Smiler and Radio Ramadan.

Visit to the Parliament
Donation of
computers and books
Visit
to the Parliament On the invitation of Mr. M. Sarwar and Lord
Nazir Ahmed, KEF UK Trustees and friends paid a visit to the Houses of
Parliament on November 12, 2001 to explain the objectives and plans of
KEF.
Donation
of Computers/Books With the concerted efforts of Mr. Zulfiqar
Mohsin and his colleagues in Leeds City Council, 5621 books were collected
and dispatched to the Pearl Valley Public School
(PVPS) and Institute of Teachers Education,
Rawalakot. 15 computers, donated by Lynva Russel, were also sent to for
the IT lab of PVPS.
