Question: What KEF is all about?

Answer: Kashmir Education Foundation – a charitable and wholly non-commercial NGO- has dedicated itself to provide high quality modern education to bright children of underprivileged and marginalised sections of the society, particularly in the rural areas and to support the general up gradation of abysmally low teaching standards of country’s primary and secondary schools.

Question: In which year was your organization founded?

Answer: 1994

Question: How many projects does KEF running?

Answer: One College, two schools and an Institute of Teacher Education.

Question: Why its name is Kashmir Education Foundation, although it is serving for Pakistan too?

Answer: One of its main reasons is that Kashmir Education Foundation laid the foundation of its first pilot project (Pearl Valley Public School & College) in Rawalakot, Azad Kashmir with a vision to enlighten the dark future of talented children of rural areas by providing them the most modern quality education with an emphasis upon female education.

Question: Are there any eligibility criteria for beneficiaries?

Answer: For Schools: The selection of children in Prep Class is done through APID (Assessment of Pre-School Intelligence Development) Test conducted by NIP (National Institute of Psychology). The deserving, selected candidates are provided financial assistance by KEF.

For Institute of Teacher Education-ITE: The participants are required to possess BA degree.

Question:What else can we do other than sponsoring a child?

Answer: You can contribute towards setting an elementary school in a remote area (up to Class VIII) by paying Rs. 20 million ( in $ or £)

You can contribute towards setting a school up to matriculation in a remote area by paying Rs. 25 million (in $ or £)

KEF also accepts Zakat and utilizes it exclusively for the education of poor children and trainee teachers.

Question: What are the main programme areas in which your organization is working?

Answer: In the filed of Education & Community Welfare Services.

Question: How can we sponsor a child/ trainee teacher?

Answer: You can sponsor a child/ trainee teacher in the following four ways:

School Children

1. You can partially sponsor a child by contributing either Rs. 1500 ($ 20 or £ 12) per month or Rs. 18,000 ($ 240 or £ 144) per year.

2. You can fully sponsor a child for his entire education from Prep to HSSC (Class-XII) by contributing either Rs. 2,500 ($ 32 or £ 20) per month or Rs. 30,000 ($ 384 or £ 240 ) per year.

Trainee Teacher

3. You can partially sponsor a trainee teacher by contributing either Rs. 6,000 ($ 75 or £ 50) per month or Rs. 72,000 ($ 900 or £ 600) per year for a course at the ITE.

4. You can fully sponsor a trainee teacher by contributing either Rs. 12,000 ($ 150 or £ 100) per month or Rs. 144,000 ($ 1800 or £ 1200) per year for a course at the ITE.

Answer: All over Pakistan & Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK).
